My name is Larry Smith. I am the Founder and Executive Director of Intrepid Phoenix. I am an alcoholic in recovery that is now sober for 6 1⁄2 years. When I started my journey of recovery, I immediately joined the YMCA and started exercising and working out. This, along with taking a bath in the program of Alcoholics Anonymous is the reason I was able to obtain sobriety and to this day, maintain my sobriety. In 2017 the idea came to me that other people in recovery could benefit from adding fitness and exercise to their program of recovery, so I decided to found Intrepid Phoenix.
Our purpose is to provide a wholistic fitness approach to the recovery from Substance Abuse Disorder. We believe improving the mental, emotional, and physical health of our members increases their chances of abstinence thereby having a positive impact on their lives and the community.
